  [I believe this to be James Staggs and his family.  The names of the family members and their
  ages fit fairly well.  This family lives adjacent in the census to an older James Scott who
  already has a son James.  James Staggs shows up in the 1860 census almost adjacent to the 
  same James Scott.  I believe the census taker made an error in recording the surname.]

10. JAMES NESBITT3 STAGGS (JOSEPH2, WILLIAM CHARLES1) was born December 29, 1826 in Wayne County,
Tennessee, and died April 1862 in Wayne County, Tennessee. He married SOPHONIA JANE CHURCHWELL Abt.
1846 in Wayne County, Tennessee, daughter of RICHARD CHURCHWELL and SALLIE MCBRIDE.

Notes for JAMES NESBITT STAGGS:
He was born and reared in Wayne county, Tennessee. He enlisted in the Civil War and during that war
died with fever.

'James N. Staggs, son of Joseph and Frances Nesbitt Staggs, was born around 1827/28 in Tennessee. He
married Sophonia J. Churchwell around 1847. They were the parents of Fanny, Mary J., Jacob B., and
Nancy. James N. Staggs settled the estate of his parents."

"Be it remembered that a Quorum County Court held in a town of Waynesboro, Tennessee. Febuary 6,
1860, William S. T. Edwards, James N. Staggs, William Pollard, chairman, William Jones, clerk, and J.
B. Biffle, his deputy.
